JBL – CONTROL 68 HP

The Control 68HP is a high-output, full-range pendant loudspeaker from JBL Professional, designed to deliver exceptional sound reproduction and consistent coverage in environments with open ceilings and lively acoustics. Ideal for a wide range of applications, the Control 68HP excels in spaces such as retail stores, restaurants, hotels, casinos, fitness centers, convention centers, exhibit areas, conference rooms, atriums, museums, and transit centers. Its design is particularly suited for areas where aesthetic considerations or acoustic performance demands a pendant form factor.

Featuring a 110° coverage pattern, the Control 68HP enables effective sound distribution across large areas while minimizing the number of speakers needed. This efficiency not only reduces installation costs but also maintains high-performance levels. The pendant design of the Control 68HP integrates seamlessly into open-ceiling environments, blending both function and style.

The loudspeaker employs a coaxial driver configuration, which enhances sound clarity and consistency. The low-frequency driver has an 8-inch Kevlar™-reinforced cone, a large 2-inch CCAW voice coil, and a fiberglass voice coil former. This combination provides high power handling and durability, ensuring reliable long-term performance. The high-frequency driver is a 1-inch titanium dome compression driver with a Kapton™ voice coil former, designed to deliver high-fidelity sound with minimal distortion.

The Control 68HP features a conically-contoured constant directivity horn, which contributes to its wide 110° coverage pattern and consistent sound quality throughout the listening area. This design minimizes distortion and ensures a uniform sound experience across various positions in the room.

Installation is straightforward with the Control 68HP’s single-point mounting system, which includes a complete hanging cable setup for secure suspension. The system comes with two 4.5-meter (15-foot) high-tensile galvanized steel wire ropes, equipped with spring clips for the speaker end and UL-listed cable fasteners for height adjustment. This allows for easy and adjustable installation in open-ceiling applications.

The Control 68HP is equipped with a 68-watt multi-tap transformer for use with 70V/100V distributed audio systems and can be switched for direct 8-ohm voice-coil operation. Euro-style clip-in connectors facilitate wiring connections, and for outdoor or exposed environments, the speaker includes rubber boots to protect the input connectors. An optional terminal cover (MTC-60PC) is available for additional protection in direct-exposure locations.
