The Control 25-1 is a versatile two-way loudspeaker designed to deliver exceptional sound quality in a variety of settings. Featuring a 5-inch driver, it combines a rich sonic character with wide coverage and consistent dispersion, making it suitable for a range of indoor and outdoor applications. Whether used in retail stores, restaurants, health clubs, theme parks, educational facilities, hospitality venues, music cafes, or leisure spaces, the Control 25-1 excels as a high-output speaker for foreground and background music as well as paging.
A key feature of the Control 25-1 is its unique InvisiBall mounting system, which simplifies installation. This innovative mounting method allows for extensive vertical and horizontal rotation, and because adjustments are made through a concealed access behind the logo badge, the grille remains in place, providing both ease of adjustment and a deterrent against theft. For added installation flexibility, the speaker includes integrated M6 mounting points that accommodate an optional U-bracket.
The Control 25-1’s design emphasizes durability and high performance. The low-frequency (LF) driver features a woven fiberglass cone, known for its resilience and weather-resistant properties. This driver is paired with a lightweight, high-temperature fiberglass voice coil former and voice coil wire, ensuring both high sensitivity and robust performance under long-term, high-power conditions. The pure butyl rubber surround enhances sound clarity and durability, while JBL’s WeatherEdge™ technology—a seamless, rubberized extension of the woofer surround—offers additional protection to the transducer elements.
The LF driver’s cone geometry is optimized to provide smooth frequency response and consistent off-axis performance. The speaker’s motor construction, engineered using finite element analysis (FEA) and a linear suspension spider, contributes to reduced harmonic distortion, ensuring cleaner sound. The high-frequency (HF) driver incorporates low-viscosity ferro-magnetic fluid, which improves voice coil cooling and extends power handling capacity. The softened PEI diaphragm ensures a smooth and pure high-frequency output, and the lightweight Kapton™ voice coil former enhances durability and high-frequency response.
Weather resistance is a critical aspect of the Control 25-1’s design. The cabinet is constructed from high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) and is painted with a UV-resistant finish (for the white version) to withstand exposure to sun and moisture. The grille is heavily zinc-plated and coated with a durable powder coating to resist rust. For environments with extreme conditions, optional MTC-25WMG WeatherMax™ grilles are available, featuring multi-layer foam and a tight-weave mesh backing to protect against driving rain.
The speaker features weather-capable screw-down terminals for secure connections. Optional MTC-PC2 and MTC-PC3 panel covers can be added to provide a water-tight, sealed gland-nut entrance when used with round-jacketed cables within the specified diameter range.
In terms of performance, the Control 25-1 delivers a frequency response extending down to 60 Hz, providing robust bass capability. It can handle 100 watts of continuous pink noise and up to 200 watts program power at an 8-ohm impedance. Additionally, it includes a built-in 30-watt multi-tap transformer for 70V/100V distributed line operation, enhancing its versatility. With high sensitivity and power handling capabilities, the Control 25-1 achieves a maximum SPL of 110 dB, ensuring it performs effectively in a variety of demanding acoustic environments.
