The AWC82 is a compact, coaxial-driver, 2-way loudspeaker system renowned for its weather resistance and versatility, making it ideal for a range of applications including sports facilities, racetracks, stadiums, fairgrounds, rodeos, skating rinks, themed entertainment venues, water parks, outdoor background music/paging systems, and swimming pools. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, this full-range loudspeaker excels at delivering clear speech and music fill across various environments.
Featuring a high-power coaxial configuration, the AWC82 includes a 200 mm (8 in) low-frequency driver and a 25 mm (1 in) high-frequency compression driver. Its innovative coaxial design integrates a tapered polepiece that transitions into the low-frequency driver’s cone, creating a large-diameter pattern control horn for high frequencies. This design minimizes high-frequency beaming and enhances pattern control down to the lowest frequencies, providing a consistent 120° coverage across the broadband spectrum.
The AWC82’s components are engineered for durability and performance. The low-frequency cone is Kevlar-reinforced for added reliability, with a well-damped surround to ensure smooth frequency response. The high-temperature voice coil and reduced distortion design further improve performance through saturated-gap magnet geometry. The high-frequency compression driver incorporates a patented design with a high-temperature polymer diaphragm and fluid cooling to achieve high output levels with minimal distortion.
Constructed from thick ABS plus fiberglass, the AWC82’s paintable enclosure is heavily braced to optimize low-frequency performance. It features a corrosion-resistant, zinc-rich powder-coated steel grille backed with open cell foam and high thread-count mesh, ensuring protection in harsh environments. The system is rated IP-56 per IEC529 when installed with a minimum 5° down-tilt, meeting rigorous durability standards.
The AWC82 includes a 200W 70V/100V multi-tap transformer for versatile installation. Connections are facilitated through outdoor-rated terminals housed in a recessed terminal cup. A protective terminal compartment cover with a gland nut provides a water-tight seal for round-jacketed cables with diameters ranging from 4 mm (0.16 in) to 9 mm (0.36 in), ensuring reliable operation in various environmental conditions.
