The JBL AWC159 is a compact, weather-resistant loudspeaker system designed for a wide range of applications including sports facilities, racetracks, stadiums, fairgrounds, and various indoor or outdoor venues. Its versatile performance makes it ideal for environments such as water parks, swimming pools, themed entertainment venues, and outdoor paging systems.
This full-range speaker features a high-power coaxial design with a 380 mm (15 in) low-frequency driver and a 38 mm (1.5 in) high-frequency compression driver. The unique tapered pole piece and large diameter pattern control horn effectively eliminate high-frequency beaming and extend pattern control across a broad frequency range. This results in a consistent 90° coverage pattern that ensures clear and even sound distribution.
The AWC159’s components are built for durability and high performance. The low-frequency driver boasts a Kevlar-reinforced cone, a well-damped surround for smooth response, and a high-temperature 75 mm (3 in) voice coil. Its design also incorporates a saturated-gap magnet geometry to reduce distortion. The high-frequency compression driver features a patented design with a high-temperature polymer diaphragm and fluid-cooling, delivering high output levels with minimal distortion.
The speaker’s rugged enclosure is constructed from thick ABS plus fiberglass, providing enhanced durability. It is heavily braced to improve low-frequency performance and is finished with a corrosion-resistant, extra-thick powder-coated steel grille. This grille is backed with open-cell foam and high-thread-count mesh for superior protection in harsh environments. The AWC159 is rated IP-56 per IEC529, ensuring its reliability even when installed with a minimum 5° down-tilt.
For convenience, the AWC159 includes a 300W 70V/100V multi-tap transformer and features outdoor-rated terminals housed in a recessed terminal cup. It also comes with a protective terminal compartment cover and gland nut, which form a watertight seal with round-jacketed cable, ensuring reliable performance in all conditions.
