JBL – CONTROL 31

The JBL Control 31 delivers high-fidelity performance with a compact design, featuring advanced components and a computer-optimized horn for smooth and powerful sound. Its 250 mm (10 inch) low-frequency driver includes a woven fiberglass cone for weather resistance and a pure butyl rubber surround that ensures clean sound quality. The high-temperature fiberglass voice coil former enhances sensitivity and output capability, ensuring stable performance even under prolonged high-power use. The driver’s optimized cone geometry provides a smooth frequency response and excellent off-axis performance, while the linear suspension spider and FEA-optimized motor construction minimize distortion. An aluminum coupler ring further reduces harmonic distortion and increases sensitivity.

The high-frequency compression driver features a patented design with a high-temperature polymer diaphragm and fluid-cooling, delivering high output with low distortion. JBL’s ImageControl™ process has optimized the high-frequency waveguide for accurate control, smooth frequency response, and consistent sound quality across the listening area. The speaker offers 110° x 110° symmetrical coverage, ensuring uniform sound dispersion whether installed vertically or horizontally.

For installation, the Control 31 includes the InvisiBall mounting system, allowing up to 41° horizontal and 36° or 23° vertical rotation, depending on orientation. It also features an 8-ohm impedance setting in the Thru position, accommodating up to two speakers per 4-ohm amplifier channel. The speaker’s weather resistance is enhanced with a rear-loaded basket, weather-capable polymer diaphragm, and a thermoset composite coated grille that withstands UV and humidity. The grille is backed with WeatherMax™ foam and tight-weave screening to prevent water intrusion, while nickel/zinc rust-resistant terminals ensure a secure connection. The included MTC-PC2 cover provides additional protection for the terminals. The white version of the Control 31 is painted with a UV-resistant finish to prevent yellowing.
