The JBL Control 18C/T is a versatile full-range ceiling speaker designed to deliver exceptional sound quality across a range of medium to high volume applications. This includes settings such as music cafes, retail stores, airports, convention centers, and educational facilities. It features a 200 mm (8.0 inch) high-tech cone driver coupled with a 25 mm soft-dome liquid-cooled tweeter, all housed in a vented, paintable baffle made from UV-resistant UL94-V0 and UL94-5HB material. For ease of installation, the speaker comes with a pre-attached blind-mount backcan.
The Control 18C/T is engineered to provide consistent sound quality for listeners whether they are on or off-axis. The 200 mm low-frequency driver is crafted with a lightweight, high-temperature anodized aluminum voice coil former and a high-temperature grade voice coil, ensuring reliable performance even under high power conditions. The butyl rubber surround enhances durability and sonic damping, while the polypropylene cone offers resistance to water and humidity. The speaker’s FEA-optimized motor construction and cone geometry, combined with its linear suspension spider design, contribute to a smooth frequency response and consistent off-axis performance.
The 25 mm high-frequency driver features a highly damped treated silk dome for clear, warm sound. It incorporates a lightweight Kapton™ voice coil for improved high-frequency response, low viscosity liquid cooling for enhanced power handling, and a wide dispersion waveguide design to ensure broad coverage and smooth frequency response.
For secure wire connections, the Control 18C/T includes a removable locking connector with screw terminals and “loop through” terminals, along with a dual strain relief assembly for use with cable or flex conduit. The speaker can be used as an 8-ohm low-impedance speaker or as part of a 70V or 100V distributed system, thanks to its 60-watt multitap transformer. The Control 18C/T is supplied with two tile rail supports, a C-ring support backing plate, a cutout template, a paint shield, and a grille, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of projects.
