JBL – CBT 1000

The CBT 1000 represents a significant advancement in pattern control technology, building on JBL’s acclaimed CBT Constant Beamwidth Technology™ line. By employing patented complex analog beam-forming, the CBT 1000 offers superior and consistent vertical coverage. Unlike traditional straight form-factor column speakers that often suffer from narrow vertical beaming and off-coverage lobing, the CBT 1000 ensures smooth and even sound distribution.

A key feature of the CBT 1000 is its combination of Constant Beamwidth Technology with adjustable vertical coverage and a tapered horizontal waveguide. This design enhances the versatility of the speaker, allowing it to precisely target its sound coverage according to the specific geometry of the listening space. The speaker’s asymmetrical coverage settings deliver a denser sound with a tighter pattern from the upper half of the array, while the lower half provides a broader vertical pattern. This innovative approach results in more uniform front-to-back sound pressure levels, effectively balancing sound distribution in the room.

Additionally, the CBT 1000 offers a unique feature for vertical coverage pattern adjustment. Installers can choose from a range of four “Pattern Up” and four “Pattern Down” angles, offering a total of sixteen different combinations. This flexibility is achieved without the need for any external DSP processing. The patent-pending Tapered Horizontal Waveguide design further enhances the speaker’s performance by varying the horizontal dispersion. It provides a wide dispersion angle for short-throw distances and a narrower angle for long-throw distances, ensuring excellent coverage in both front and rear corners of the room. This consistent pattern control makes the CBT 1000 particularly effective in challenging acoustic environments.

The speaker’s two-way coaxial design delivers a broad frequency range from 45 Hz to 20 kHz. The low-diffraction baffle minimizes frequency response irregularities that can arise from baffle discontinuities, ensuring a clean and accurate sound. With a robust aluminum grille, the CBT 1000 is well-suited for outdoor installations, offering rust-free durability. Its slim design, standing at 102 cm (40.2 in) tall and just 25 cm (9.9 in) wide, makes it a versatile choice that blends seamlessly with various architectural styles.
