The JBL AWC62 is a compact, weather-resistant, full-range loudspeaker system designed for both indoor and outdoor applications where speech and music clarity are essential. Ideal for diverse settings such as sports facilities, racetracks, stadiums, fairgrounds, rodeos, skating rinks, themed entertainment venues, water parks, outdoor paging systems, and swimming pools, the AWC62 excels in delivering high-quality sound in various environments.
Featuring a high-power coaxial 165 mm (6.5 in) low-frequency driver and a 25 mm (1 in) high-frequency compression driver, the AWC62 utilizes a unique tapered pole-piece design. This design transitions seamlessly to the low-frequency driver’s cone, creating a large-diameter pattern control horn for high frequencies. This approach effectively eliminates high-frequency beaming and extends pattern control to lower frequencies, resulting in exceptionally consistent 110° coverage across the frequency range.
The loudspeaker’s components include a Kevlar-reinforced low-frequency cone for durability, a well-damped surround for smooth frequency response, and a high-temperature voice coil designed to minimize distortion through saturated-gap magnet geometry. The enclosure is constructed from thick ABS plus fiberglass, heavily braced to enhance low-frequency performance, and finished with a paintable, corrosion-resistant zinc-rich powder-coated steel grille. The grille is backed with open-cell foam and high thread-count mesh to provide robust protection in harsh conditions. The AWC62 is rated IP-56 per IEC529 when installed with a minimum 5° down-tilt.
The AWC62 comes equipped with a 120W 70V/100V multi-tap transformer and features outdoor-rated terminals housed in a recessed terminal cup. It includes a protective terminal compartment cover and a gland nut, which ensures a water-tight seal for round-jacketed cables with diameters between 4 mm (0.16 in) and 9 mm (0.36 in).
