The JBL AWC129 is a robust, full-range loudspeaker system designed to deliver exceptional sound quality in a variety of challenging environments. This compact, coaxial-driver, 2-way loudspeaker excels in providing clear and powerful audio for both speech and music, making it ideal for use in sports facilities, racetracks, stadiums, fairgrounds, rodeos, skating rinks, themed entertainment venues, water parks, outdoor background music systems, swimming pools, and numerous other indoor or outdoor settings.

At the heart of the AWC129 is a high-power 300 mm (12 in) low-frequency driver combined with a 25 mm (1 in) high-frequency compression driver. The coaxial design features a unique tapered polepiece that transitions seamlessly into the cone of the low-frequency driver. This design acts as a large-diameter pattern control horn for high frequencies, effectively reducing common high-frequency beaming issues and extending consistent pattern control across a broad frequency range. As a result, the AWC129 offers exceptionally wide and consistent 90° coverage, ensuring uniform sound dispersion throughout the listening area.

The AWC129 is engineered with advanced components to enhance performance and durability. The low-frequency driver features a Kevlar-reinforced cone, known for its reliability and strength. This driver also includes a high-temperature 75 mm (3 in) voice coil and utilizes a saturated-gap magnet geometry to minimize distortion and deliver smooth, accurate sound reproduction. The well-damped surround of the driver ensures a consistent frequency response across the entire audio spectrum.

The high-frequency compression driver is equipped with a patented design that includes a high-temperature polymer diaphragm and fluid-cooling. This combination allows the driver to achieve high output levels with minimal distortion, ensuring clear and precise high-frequency performance even in demanding conditions.

The AWC129’s enclosure is constructed from a combination of thick ABS and fiberglass, providing a durable and weather-resistant housing for the speaker components. The enclosure is heavily braced to enhance low-frequency performance and ensure structural integrity. The corrosion-resistant grille is made from zinc-rich, extra-thick powder-coated steel and features a three-layer assembly with open cell foam and high-thread-count mesh backing. This grille offers robust protection against environmental hazards, making the AWC129 suitable for the harshest conditions.

The system is rated IP-56 per IEC529, indicating strong resistance to dust and water ingress. To maintain this rating, the AWC129 must be installed with a minimum 5° downward tilt. This weatherproofing ensures that the speaker remains functional and reliable in various outdoor settings, including locations with high humidity, salt spray, or extreme temperatures.

Overall, the JBL AWC129 is a versatile and high-performance loudspeaker system that combines advanced acoustic technology with rugged construction, making it an excellent choice for demanding audio applications in both indoor and outdoor environments.
